Rin is a naturally dark wizard, the existence of such who are seen once or twice in a few centuries. Meaning, unlike the others, his possessing of a light conjuring circle allows him to use the dark form of ice, Infact- leaving him no other choice than being abnormally powerful. But because of the renownment of Conjurors who used dark arts to make their conjuring circles light to gain more power but only to use it for evil purposes, Rin is often misunderstood. Which, all in all, leads to his uncaring attitude towards everyone. But ofcourse, no one can deny his good will no matter what a jerk he acts like after a number of events unfold. Plus Rin usually prefers showing as less as he can of his power as little can do irrevocable damage even if it doesn't look like much. If he chooses to unleash more of his power under any circumstances, necessary or not, tattoo-like emblems start growing all over his body starting from the middle of his chest over the heart. They fade away and lessen going make to the source as it wre never there after a certain amount of time without the use of magic though. Also, because of being a dark conjuror, Rin can absorb any form of dark magic, including using this ability to absorb the poison in others cast with black magic, only to make himself more powerful.
